Security Monitoring FAQ

Does monitoring always mean video surveillance?

No. Monitoring may include access events, storage status, water or environmental information, inspections or other project-approved sources. The owner should select only the information that supports a real decision.

How long should monitoring records be kept?

The owner and responsible authority should define retention according to the purpose, privacy requirements and applicable project rules. No universal retention period should be assumed.

Can monitoring be connected to the Smart Archive Platform?

It can be considered as a status or event layer, provided the source, interface, permissions, privacy, support and response responsibility are approved.

Who responds to an alert?

Every alert type should have a primary reviewer, backup contact, confirmation method, escalation path and service responsibility before handover.

What makes monitoring ineffective?

Unclear objectives, too many unowned alerts, poor placement, missing maintenance, unclear privacy rules or no response procedure can make monitoring difficult to operate even when equipment is installed.
